Vivitrol is not a script you pick up at a pharmacy. It is a monthly injection administered in this office. The first appointment is a clinical intake and insurance check. Before your first injection, you must be opioid-free for 7 to 10 days if treating opioid use disorder. The clinic confirms this with a urine drug screen and a naloxone challenge in office. The injection itself is gluteal, takes a few minutes, and you stay 15 to 30 minutes afterward for monitoring.
